The Women of the Moose had a Chinese Auction at the Cash Bash. It was a successful event, and they would like to thank everyone who bought tickets and those co-workers and members that donated items for the Chinese Auction. Thanks especially to Carroll's Nursery for donating 4 shrubs for the event.
The Women of the Moose had a Hoagie Sale recently which was a great success. Thanks to everyone who sold and bought hoagies.
The Women of the Moose are having an open Jewelery Party on October 8, 2011 from 11:00 PM to 2:00 PM here in the lodge for all co-workers and their guests. This should be lots of fun, so come and enjoy the party.
The Annual Children's Halloween Event will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM. Bring in your child, grandchild, niece or nephew to get a treat bag from the Women of the Moose. They need not to be in costume.
Orders for The Women of the Moose annual Pie Sale will be taken from October 1, 2011 till October 25, 2011 with delivery on November 15, 2011 in time for Thanksgiving. See any Women of the Moose co-worker to order or order at the bar.
The Women of the Moose will be having a Rada Knife Sale with orders to be delivered in time for Christmas. Watch the Lodge for more information.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WOMEN OF THE MOOSE FOR EARNING THE AWARD OF ACHIEVEMENT FOR CHAPTER YEAR 2010-2011 AND TO MARTY DUPONT FOR GETTING THE TOP SPONSOR AWARD FOR THE CHAPTER YEAR THAT ENDED APRIL 30, 2011.

As you all know, Mooseheart Child City & School was founded in 1913 by James J. Davis. And his words of wisdom have become entrenched in the minds of our members: “No man stands so straight and tall as when he stoops to lift up a child.” Because of his vision of providing a home and education to children in need, and because of our members’ dedication and commitment throughout the years, we will be celebrating Mooseheart’s 100th Anniversary in 2013. An Endowment Fund, once known as a “penny march,” was established in 1918 to sustain Mooseheart in case of an unforeseen emergency.

In 1922, Moosehaven was founded and was then included in the Endowment Fund. Perhaps some today may not realize that, in those days, a penny was a lot of money. In 1912, the average wage was $750 per year and the average cost of a loaf of bread was 5.6 cents. But that did not deter the membership from donating to the Endowment Fund because they believed strongly in their mission – making sure there would always be a place for children in need and a retirement community for senior members of the fraternity in need of its security. And, today, we must continue what was begun so many years ago. Mooseheart Founder’s Day is October 27, the date of James J. Davis’s birth in 1873. All fraternal units are asked to hold special functions to celebrate this special occasion. I am delighted to introduce the “Endowment Fund Cradle Fundraiser” that has been developed for the month of October. We will mail packets to each Lodge with the request that the entire membership of both the Lodge and Chapter be invited to give to the Endowment Fund.

Then we ask that you place each donor’s name on the cradle and post it in your Lodge home for all to see and pay honor to Mooseheart’s Founder. Our goal will be to raise for the Mooseheart/ Moosehaven Endowment Fund during the month of October. Personal checks to this fundraiser, payable to “Moose Charities”, may be accepted and included in the total collected and remitted. Individuals may donate online at www.moosecharities. org; your Lodge/Chapter will be credited if the donation goes to the Challenge others to participate; have a competition within your District and/or Association.

Finally, all donations shall be remitted via Lodge or Chapter check to Moose Charities, ear-marked in the return envelope provided in your fundraising packet postmarked A recognition list of all Lodges and Chapters that participate will be available at www.moosecharities.org and on hand for recognition at your Mid-Year Conferences. But don’t stop there! Continue to hold special functions throughout the month honoring Mooseheart Founder’s Day. Notify your members in your newsletters and on your websites – give them the opportunity to be a part of this great endeavor
